Massage Arts Center of Philadelphia prides itself on its diverse assembly of teaching professionals. We feel that having a wide array of instructors broadens students' understanding of various modalites, academic philosophies, and marketing and business strategies. Students benefit from the wealth of practical experience the teachers bring to their classes. All of Massage Arts' instructors have been selected for their diverse experience and expertise in their areas of study. Our instructors have excellent communication skills, bolstered by their enthusiasm about education and dedication to their students' learning process.

Faculty  

John Campbell, D.C. - Science Instructor
John has earned a Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1989, a B.S. in Biology from the University of Scranton as well as a Masters Degree in Education from Holy Family College. Dr. Campbell has over twelve years experience in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal injuries. He teaches anatomy, physiology and biology at the secondary level while maintaining a part-time chiropractic practice.

Peter DiOrio - Director & Massage Therapy Instructor
Practicing since 1997, Peter received a diploma in Massage Therapy and Spa Esthetics and went on to complete advanced studies in body awareness, manual lymphatic drainage (complete decongestive physiotherapy), aromatherapy, energy healing and education. Peter's classroom instruction reflects a passion for massage therapy, body awareness and integrative healing methods. Eastern philosophy and western sciences unite in his style, honoring individuality while challenging the status quo.

Linda Gerber, NCTMB - Connective Tissue / Massage Therapy Program
Linda received her Degree in Massage Therapy from Our Lady of Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies and Camden County College completing a 700 hour program; she has completed additional training in: craniosacral therapy with the Upledger Institute Inc. and Myofascial Release with the John F Barnes Myofascial Treatment Centers. She has a private practice in Southampton, NJ that mostly encompasses the cranio sacral and myofascial release modalities. She incorporates the whole mind, body, spirit awareness into her practice and encourages students to have a strong base knowledge while allowing their intuition to help guide them in creating a safe healing environment.

Enid F. Jones - AOBTA Registered Instructor, Shiatsu
Enid is a graduate of the 702-hour shiatsu practitioner program at The International School of Shiatsu (ISS) in Doylestown, PA. She assisted in the class for over 5 years at ISS and has served as both a Level I and II instructor. Her practice is located at Huntington Valley's "Wellness at Work". She has been a member of AOBTA for over 12 years. Enid teaches from the premise that we use this art as a tool, not only to care for others but also to care for and balance ourselves; on a spiritual,mental and a physical level.

Deb Overholt, CI (AOBTA), Dipl. ABT (NCCAOM) – Shiatsu Instructor
Deb has been an Asian Bodywork Therapist since 1992 and an instructor of Shiatsu and Traditional Chinese Medicine since 1996. The letters following her name stand for Certified Instructor through the American Organization for Bodywork Therapists of Asia, and a Diplomate of Asian Bodywork Therapy through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She has been involved with AOBTA since its inception and served for many years as the NJ State Chapter Legislative Chair. She has been involved with the legislative process in NJ since 1994 and is currently serving on the Examining Committee, under the Board of Nursing, for the NJ Massage, Bodywork and Somatic Therapies Act. In August of 2005, Deb joined the National Board of AOBTA as the Director of the Council of Schools and Programs. Deb remains a “lifetime student” through continuing education courses of Asian bodywork as well as her interest in indigenous herbs. She has a private practice in Mount Laurel that includes a long term relationship with a continuing care retirement community working with the staff and residents.

Carl Weisse, D.C. - Science Instructor
Carl is a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Palmer College of Chiropractic - where he was the first David D. Palmer chiropractic scholar and graduated with honors. He has an extensive background in education and administration including Neurology Instructor at Pennsylvania College of Chiropractic and a teaching position at the Community College of Philadelphia. Carl operates a private practice in Philadelphia.
